Underground Physics Laboratory Supported by Noblegen Generator

The Stawell Underground Lab chose a Noblegen generator to provide uninterrupted supply for their ultra-low-temperature experiments.

Cryogenic research, deep underground

More than a kilometre underground, the Stawell Underground Physics Lab is a key hub for precision research. Isolated from the smallest signals on the surface, experiments at SUPL are shielded from cosmic rays and surface-based electromagnetic noise, allowing scientists to achieve groundbreaking precision measurement studies.

Stawell Gold Mines, one of Australia’s deepest mines, is home to the first underground laboratory of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Completed in 2022 within a repurposed section of the mine, this facility now hosts ultra-low-temperature research powered by a Noblegen Callisto LN20 liquid nitrogen generator.

Another step forward - empowering experiments with the latest technology

The team at SUPL decided to integrate a Noblegen liquid nitrogen generator into their suite of advanced tools to support experiments in quantum science and fundamental physics. The Callisto LN20 unit empowers cutting-edge research by providing a controlled, safe and reliable source of liquid nitrogen.

With a 50L built-in insulated tank and intelligent level sensors, the Callisto LN20 delivers uninterrupted liquid nitrogen supply, while prioritizing safety through automatic standby and real-time diagnostics. Its high-purity output and energy-efficient design make it ideal for precision applications where operational continuity are critical. By reducing reliance on external liquid nitrogen supply, this technology enables researchers to focus on discovery - confident that their experiments are protected by cryogenic innovation, eliminating the risk of sudden supply chain interruptions.

Strengthening global research efforts

Noblegen are proud to support a cutting-edge research facility with the latest cryogenic equipment that allows them to operate independently, ensuring continuous supply for low-temperature experiments. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to enabling scientific breakthroughs, driving innovation, and advancing research through strong partnerships.
